Weinmannia pubescens

Weinmannia pubescens is a shrub or tree native to the Andes from Venezuela to Peru. In Colombia it grows at about 5,000–11,100 feet. Young branches and leaves bear dense golden-brown hairs. Its compound leaves have toothed, leathery leaflets arranged along a winged central axis. Small yellowish-white flowers with projecting stamens form long, dense racemes. The fruits are small pointed capsules that turn brown and split open when mature. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia.
