A slender spike of vivid purple and blue flowers, with red bracts, standing out against a lush greem environment
Aechmea Blue Tango

The hybrid Aechmea 'Blue Tango' is a cross between Aechmea chantinii and Aechmea recurvata. These two species were chosen for their vibrant colors and the ability to produce striking floral bracts, which are the defining characteristic of this hybrid. Aechmea chantinii contributes to the plant's colorful bracts, while Aechmea recurvata adds to the overall structure and hardiness of the hybrid. The result is the beautiful and distinctive blue and pink bracts that make Aechmea 'Blue Tango' so visually striking. Aechmea hybrids like this one are widely grown as ornamental plants. The flower spike emerges as a stunning, cone-shaped cluster of blue bracts that gradually transition to pink as the blooms mature. Like many other bromeliads, it primarily propagates through offsets, also known as "pups," which are small clones that grow at the base of the parent plant.
