Viburnum obovatum (Walter's Viburnum)
Viburnum obovatum is a shrub or small tree native to the southeastern United States. Its dark green leaves are leathery and often evergreen. Numerous small white flowers open in rounded clusters, drawing butterflies and other insects. Small fruits ripen to black and are eaten by birds. New shoots can arise from the base and nearby roots, giving the plant a thicket-forming habit. Photographed in Florida.
