Solanum pimpinellifolium (Currant Tomato)
A climbing shrub and wild relative of the cultivated tomato, it is native from Ecuador to northern Chile, including the Galápagos Islands. It bears yellow, star-shaped flowers and small, round fruits that ripen red. This species can hybridize with domestic tomatoes and has been influential in breeding for disease resistance and studying the genetic control of fruit shape and size.
