Solanum white five-lobed flower with yellow anthers, lobed leaves, and a prickly hairy stalk

Solanum pseudocapsicum

An evergreen shrub native to southern South America, it usually grows to about 3 feet tall. Small white, star-shaped flowers develop into long-lasting red, orange or yellow berries, making it popular as an ornamental houseplant. All parts are poisonous to people and pets. Birds disperse the seeds, and it has naturalized in Australia, including Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. It can be propagated from seed or stem cuttings. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
