Salvia rufula


This plant is an aromatic shrub native to Colombia and Ecuador. In Colombia, it occurs at elevations of 3,000 to 9,500 feet. Its arching, four-angled stems carry opposite green leaves with toothed margins. Hairy red to orange-red tubular flowers grow in spaced whorls along terminal flowering stems. Each flower has a hooded upper lip and a spreading lower lip. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
