Salvia rubescens

Salvia rubescens is an Andean sage native to Colombia and Venezuela. Branching stems carry opposite leaves and upright inflorescences of red to reddish-purple two-lipped flowers. The blossoms occur in spaced whorls, leaving sections of the floral axis visible between them. The species grows in cool montane vegetation, forest margins, and open slopes.
