Salvia rosmarinus pale violet two-lipped flowers among aromatic needle-like green leaves

Salvia rosmarinus (Rosemary)

This plant is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean region. Its woody stems carry strongly aromatic, needle-like leaves with edges rolled underneath. The flowers are blue or white, rarely pink, and strongly two-lipped, with two long stamens extending beyond the corolla. Their fruits divide into four dry nutlets. Rosemary leaves are used as a culinary herb. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
