Native to Bulgaria, this is an herbaceous plant in the Polygonaceae family. It is a perennial herbaceous plant growing from a woody rhizome. False rhubarb is noteworthy as one of the progenitors of the culinary rhubarb varieties known today and is linked to various medicinal uses.
