Rheum rhaponticum

Native to Bulgaria, this is an herbaceous plant in the Polygonaceae family. It is a perennial herbaceous plant growing from a woody rhizome. False rhubarb is noteworthy as one of the progenitors of the culinary rhubarb varieties known today and is linked to various medicinal uses. Photographed in the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia.
