La Playa de Belén is a picturesque town located in the Norte de Santander department of northeastern Colombia. It is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, featuring whitewashed walls, red-tile roofs, and cobblestone streets. Recognized as one of Colombia's Heritage Towns (Pueblos Patrimonio) it lies near the Los Estoraques Unique Natural Area (Área Natural Única Los Estoraques), a striking landscape of eroded rock formations, towering stone spires, and narrow canyons. This natural area is a popular destination for hiking, photography, and ecological tourism.
At an elevation of around 4,760 feet above sea level, La Playa de Belén enjoys a mild, temperate climate. The town has fewer than 1,000 residents.
