Pamplona is a historic town located in the Norte de Santander department of Colombia in the Eastern Andes, at an elevation of approximately 7,500 feet above sea level. Pamplona is known for its colonial architecture, cultural heritage, and as a university town.Heading west on the highway, you ascend into the Páramo de Berlín, one of the coldest ecosystems in Colombia, characterized by misty grasslands, unique high-altitude flora like frailejones, and stunning views. This páramo is part of the Santurban moorlands, a vital water source for the region. Going east, the road descends dramatically toward Cúcuta, a major city on the Venezuelan border. The highway between Pamplona and Cúcuta features winding mountain roads.
