Isertia haenkeana
Native across parts of Central America, Cuba and northern South America, it is a shrub or tree of wet tropical forests. It is often found along forest edges, trails and in secondary vegetation. Its terminal flower clusters bear narrow tubular flowers that change from yellow to orange or reddish as they age. Small rounded fruits mature red or black. In Panama, flowering and fruiting are recorded throughout the year, and butterflies and hummingbirds visit the flowers. The species is occasionally grown as an ornamental. Photographed in the department of Cordoba, Colombia.
