Tracing its roots back to China, Korea, and Burma, this species, known for its lavender-blue to sky blue flowers, although a white form exists too​1​. Its cultivated extensively in gardens for its picturesque flowers and ease of growth. Its rhizomatous nature allows it to spread and cover ground.
