Fuchsia paniculata

Native from central Mexico through Central America, it is a large shrub or small tree grown for its branching clusters of small pink and purple flowers. In cultivation it can reach about eight to thirteen feet tall. The flowers have sepals that bend back and lavender petals, followed by purplish berries. Its stems are reddish, and its glossy green leaves are lance-shaped. The fruit is edible. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
