Originally native to the regions of Africa and the Mediterranean. This aquatic plant prefers to grow in shallow water and wetlands. Historically, papyrus played a crucial role in ancient Egyptian culture as the primary material for paper-making, as well as in the construction of items such as boats, mats, and baskets.
