Cyrtochiloides ochmatochila has brown and cream flowers with white lips and yellow calluses

Cyrtochiloides ochmatochila

Native from southeastern Mexico through Central America to Peru, it is an orchid that grows on trees in wet tropical forests. It develops pseudobulbs, thickened stems characteristic of many orchids. Branched flower stems bear numerous star-shaped flowers with firm segments. The sepals and petals have cream-colored areas overlaid with chestnut brown, while the lip is white with a colored, raised callus near its base. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia.
