Coreopsis palmata
Coreopsis palmata is native to central North America. This perennial wildflower grows in open prairies, roadsides, and dry fields, often thriving in well-drained soils. The species is noted for its clump-forming habit and rhizomatous growth, which allows it to spread effectively and form colonies. Its bright yellow flower heads, typically blooming in midsummer, feature a central disk of fertile florets surrounded by 6 to 10 broad ray florets. Photographed in Virigina.
