Coreopsis leavenworthii (Leavenworth’s Tickseed)

Coreopsis leavenworthii is a wildflower native to Florida, where it is predominantly found in moist habitats such as pine flatwoods, prairies, and roadside ditches. This species thrives in areas with full sunlight and is well-suited to the sandy, well-drained soils typical of Florida's ecosystems. Though it primarily occurs in Florida, small populations have also been found in adjacent areas of the southeastern United States. It grows as an annual or short-lived perennial, depending on local conditions, and can reseed itself readily. The plant produces bright yellow flowers with a characteristic daisy-like appearance. Each flower features a central disc surrounded by golden-yellow ray florets. Photographed in Florida.
