Cordia alliodora
Native to regions ranging from Mexico to South America, including the Caribbean. This tree has adapted to a variety of environments, thriving in both wet and dry tropical forests. Characterized by its tall stature, it can reach heights of up to 100 feet. Know for its valuable timber, the wood of Spanish Elm is sought after for construction, furniture, and veneer. Various parts of the tree, including its bark and leaves, have been utilized for their purported medicinal properties, addressing ailments such as fevers and wounds. Photographed in western Panama.
