It demonstrates anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antioxidant, antifungal, hepatoprotective, and antiplasmodial activities. The bitter juice extracted from its leaves or roots is utilized to treat serious catarrhal infections and applied to boils and sores to lessen swellings.
