Native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, Arachnothryx buddleioides is typically found in humid forest habitats at mid to high elevations. It grows as a shrub or small tree and produces terminal clusters of bright pink tubular flowers that attract a variety of pollinators, particularly butterflies and hummingbirds. The flowers are arranged in dense panicles, with each bloom featuring a narrow tube that flares into four small lobes, a structure adapted to long-tongued pollinators. This species is known to thrive in well-drained soils and partially shaded environments, often occurring along forest edges and clearings where light penetration is moderate. Photographed in Panama.
