Anthurium forgetii
Endemic to Colombia, this small evergreen perennial herb has a short, upright stem and grows about 15 inches tall, excluding its flowering stalks. Its velvety, oval leaves have pale veins often bordered with frosted white. Unlike many familiar anthuriums, the leaves lack a heart-shaped notch at the base. Flowering stalks rise above the foliage, carrying slender yellow spadices covered with tiny flowers and narrow green spathes. It is cultivated for its distinctive foliage. All parts are harmful if eaten, and the sap can irritate skin and eyes. Photographed in Colombia.
