Anthurium grandifolium (Junction Root)
Native to Jamaica and the Lesser Antilles, this perennial aroid usually grows as a climbing epiphyte in wet tropical habitats, though it can also grow on the ground. Its elongated stems scramble upward and carry broad, deeply heart-shaped leaves with pointed tips. Long flower stalks bear a narrow green spathe and an exceptionally elongated, brownish-green spadix. The spadix is slightly stalked at its base and commonly has a sterile tip. Photographed in Florida.
