Aloe bellatula
Native to central Madagascar, this small succulent forms dense clumps of stemless rosettes. It grows on granite outcrops in the Itremo Mountains. The narrow, flexible leaves have rough surface projections and small marginal teeth. Flower stalks rise about two feet above the rosettes, carrying hanging coral-red to orange-red flowers with pale interiors. The flowers are cylindrical to bell-shaped. Wild populations are classified as Critically Endangered. Photographed in Florida.
