Tripsacum dactyloides

Native to the central and eastern United States and parts of Mexico and Central America, Tripsacum dactyloides is a tall clump-forming perennial grass. Broad arching leaves rise from robust stems. The terminal flower spike bears male flowers above and tightly segmented female flowers below, later breaking into beadlike fruiting sections. Photographed in Florida.
