Zamia obliqua


Native from Panama into northwestern Colombia, Zamia obliqua is a cycad of wet tropical forest. A short stem bears a crown of long pinnate leaves with broad obliquely attached leaflets. Mature plants produce upright cylindrical cones covered by closely packed scales, with male and female cones developing on separate individuals. Photographed in Colombia.
