Wallisia pretiosa broad leaf rosette with a flattened pink inflorescence and violet flowers

Wallisia pretiosa

Native only to Ecuador, Wallisia pretiosa is an epiphytic bromeliad of wet tropical forest. Long narrow leaves form a broad rosette that can collect water and organic debris. A flattened bright pink inflorescence rises from the rosette center and produces violet flowers successively between the overlapping bracts. Photographed in Colombia.
