Wallisia lindeniana large violet-blue three-petaled flower emerging from a flattened inflorescence

Wallisia lindeniana

Native only to southwestern Ecuador, Wallisia lindeniana is an epiphytic bromeliad of wet tropical forest. Narrow arching leaves form a broad spreading green water-holding rosette. A flattened paddle-shaped inflorescence bears overlapping bracts, from which large violet-blue flowers emerge with three broad petals and a pale central marking. Photographed in Colombia.
