Vaccinium corymbosum

Vaccinium corymbosum is an upright deciduous shrub native to eastern Canada and the north-central and eastern United States. Its dark green, slightly leathery leaves turn red or purple in autumn. Clusters of white to pink, urn-shaped flowers are followed by berries that ripen from green through reddish purple to blue-black, usually with a powdery blue-gray coating. It inhabits moist woods, bogs, swamps, and upland habitats. The edible berries are eaten fresh and processed into juice, preserves, and baked foods. Photographed in Colombia.
