Urceolina amazonica


Native to the Huallaga Valley of northeastern Peru, Urceolina amazonica is a bulbous perennial herb of wet tropical forest. Broad glossy leaves rise directly from the underground bulb. A leafless flower stalk carries an umbel of fragrant white blossoms whose broad tepals surround a prominent green and white central cup. Photographed in Colombia.
