Uncarina roeoesliana
Native to Madagascar, it is a succulent shrub with a swollen water-storing trunk and broad textured leaves. Large golden yellow trumpet-shaped flowers open with five rounded lobes and a pale throat. In Madagascar, Amegilla bees pollinate the flowers. After flowering, woody fruits form dense hooked projections that aid dispersal by catching on animals. Photographed in Florida.
