A large evergreen shrub native to the British Isles and Western Europe​​. Gorse is well-known for its vibrant yellow flowers, which exude a coconut-like fragrance. As a fire-climax plant, coupled with its high adaptability, has led to it being an invasive species in many locations​​​​. There are several cultivars, such as 'Strictus' and 'Flore Pleno', the latter of which has earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit​​. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
