Typhonodorum lindleyanum
Native to Madagascar, the Comoros, Mauritius, and nearby western Indian Ocean islands, Typhonodorum lindleyanum is a massive aquatic or marsh-dwelling perennial herb. Thick upright stems support enormous arrow-shaped leaves. A pale green to cream hoodlike spathe surrounds a long cylindrical spadix bearing the many tiny flowers. It forms imposing stands along shallow water. Photographed in Florida.
