Trimezia coerulea


Native to southern and southeastern Brazil and Paraguay, Trimezia coerulea is a rhizomatous perennial herb with upright sword-shaped leaves. Short-lived flowers open above the foliage with three broad violet-blue outer tepals and smaller strongly patterned inner segments. Brown, white, blue, and yellow markings converge around the central style branches. Photographed in Florida.
