Trimezia gracilis


Native from western-central and southeastern Brazil to Paraguay, Trimezia gracilis is a rhizomatous perennial herb of seasonally dry tropical vegetation. Upright sword-shaped leaves surround slender flowering stems. The short-lived blossoms combine broad pale violet outer tepals with smaller striped inner segments marked in deep violet, brown, white, and yellow. Photographed in Colombia.
