Tradescantia fluminensis

Native to southeastern South America, Tradescantia fluminensis is a creeping perennial herb that roots where its succulent stems touch the ground. Glossy pointed leaves grow in two ranks along the stems, and small flowers have three white petals surrounding yellow anthers. Variegated cultivated forms display cream, pink, purple, and green bands across the foliage. Photographed in Colombia.
