Stigmaphyllon ellipticum (Orchid Vine)

Native to tropical America, western tropical Africa, and parts of Asia and the southwestern Pacific, this genus consists mostly of woody vines. Flowers are borne in clusters, and many species have long leaf stalks with a pair of glands near the blade. Dry fruits separate into winged segments. In American members, the styles often bear small leaf-like appendages near their tips, which give the genus its name. Photographed in Colombia.
