Stelis pulchella

A small epiphytic orchid native to Andean cloud forests, Stelis pulchella grows on mossy branches in cool humid conditions. Long arching spikes carry a continuous row of tiny pale flowers, each composed chiefly of three triangular sepals. Narrow leathery leaves arise from compact clustered stems. Several spikes may develop from one leafy clump. Photographed in Colombia.
