Stachys byzantina
Lamb's ear, with its distinctive silver-foliaged appearance, is an herbaceous perennial native to regions like Armenia, Iran, and Turkey. Recognized for its unique, velvety leaves, it is a favored ground cover that forms a dense clump, creating a low-spreading mat that can be evergreen in warmer climates. The leaves have antimicrobial activity and the young leaves can be consumed. Lamb's ear has several cultivars and has been introduced beyond its native range. It's drought-tolerant. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
