Solanum laxum


Native to Argentina Northeast, southeastern Brazil, southern Brazil, west-central Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, this is a vine in the Solanaceae family. The potato vine is a perennial evergreen climber. It thrives as an ornamental plant in gardens, valued for its white or pale blue flowers. It has also naturalized in parts of Australia. A noteworthy cultivar, ‘Album,’ boasts white flowers that have garnered the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. This cultivar can withstand temperatures down to 14°F.
