Siphocampylus cordatus


A climbing shrub native to Colombia and northern Venezuela, it grows in wet tropical habitats. It belongs to the Campanulaceae family and the lobelia subfamily. Siphocampylus flowers have petals united into a tube and stamens joined into a column. The genus produces dry capsules rather than fleshy berries. Photographed in the Sierra de Nevada Santa Marta, Colombia.
