Sida cordifolia
An upright herb or subshrub native across tropical and subtropical regions, it grows in open ground, roadsides, and disturbed habitats. Its pale yellow flowers have five broad petals surrounding a central staminal column. Heart-shaped to oblong leaves have toothed margins and a soft covering of fine hairs. It is a troublesome weed in the Northern Territory of Australia, where it colonizes disturbed and overgrazed ground. Seeds spread on animals, vehicles and machinery, as well as in contaminated grain. Photographed in Colombia.
