Rubus idaeus
Rubus idaeus is a deciduous cane-forming shrub native to Europe and northern Asia and widely cultivated for raspberries. Biennial stems carry compound toothed leaves and small white flowers with many stamens. The aggregate fruits usually ripen red and separate from their central receptacles when picked. First-year canes are vegetative, while second-year canes bear flowers and fruit before naturally declining. Photographed in Florida.
