Rubus hirsutus

A bramble native from southern China through temperate East Asia, it grows as a low subshrub or shrub with arching prickly stems. Its compound leaves have toothed margins, and white flowers develop into aggregate fruits composed of many small drupelets. Ripe fruits turn bright red and are eaten fresh or cooked in pies and preserves. The flowers provide nectar for pollinating insects. Plants can be propagated by division or stem cuttings.
