Rhododendron indicum (Azalea)
Rhododendron indicum is a compact evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub in the Ericaceae family, native to Japan. It has glossy green leaves that can turn red or purple in autumn. The wild species bears reddish pink, open funnel-shaped flowers singly or in pairs. It has also contributed to the development of Satsuki azalea cultivars through selection and hybridization.
