Rhaphiolepis umbellata (Indian Hawthorn)
An evergreen shrub originating from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. This plant, which grows up to 5 feet tall and equally wide, is adorned with glossy oval leaves and bears scented white flowers, occasionally tinged with pink. It has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. The plant has many cultivars or hybrids. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
