Rhaphiolepis indica cluster of pale pink five petaled flowers with many stamens beside leathery leaves

Rhaphiolepis indica

Rhaphiolepis indica is an evergreen shrub in the Rosaceae family, native to East and Southeast Asia. It forms dense, rounded growth with alternate, leathery leaves that have toothed edges. New leaves emerge bronze before turning deep green. Fragrant white or pink flowers develop in branching clusters at the shoot tips during spring. Each flower has five petals and numerous stamens. Small, rounded fruits ripen blue-black and can persist into winter. Photographed in Colombia.
