Pyracantha coccinea
Pyracantha coccinea is a thorny evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub in the Rosaceae family, native from southern Europe to western Asia. Clusters of small white flowers develop into dense groups of orange-red pomes that can remain on the branches through winter. The flowers have five petals and grow on short shoots from the previous season. Its simple, leathery leaves are arranged alternately, with finely toothed to smooth margins and paler undersides.
