Puya ferruginea
Puya ferruginea is a terrestrial bromeliad native to the Andes of Peru and Bolivia. A rosette of narrow, stiff leaves produces a tall branched inflorescence with rusty bracts and long pale greenish flowers. The blossoms expose projecting stamens as they mature. The species grows naturally in high-elevation grassland and rocky slopes above 9,800 feet. Research-grade observations document it in Peru. Photographed in Colombia.
