Puya glomerifera
Puya glomerifera is a terrestrial bromeliad native to high elevations in Ecuador. A dense rosette of narrow spiny leaves supports a stout upright flower spike. Woolly brown bracts surround pale blue-green tubular flowers that project from the stem in compact groups. The species grows naturally in Andean grassland and páramo above 9,800 feet. Research-grade observations document it in Ecuador. Photographed in Colombia.
